I am from Asheville and needed a new hair salon. After twelve years with my hair stylist I had Kyle do my hair today. He was so wonderfully warm, welcoming and so very professional. He took the time to get to know me and offered his help because of our Hurricane situation in any way he could. Patrick, the owner, was also extremely sweet and kind. My hair has never looked better. UPDATE 3 YEARS LATER:I still love this place immensely! I've since moved away, but I'm willing to take the hour drive just to go here. I've came a few times since this last review. Every time I enter this place I am greeted like family. I laugh and joke around with everyone. We're friends and they make sure every client is treated personally and beautifully! Every time I've left Salon Povera, I haven't been disappointed. Shout out to Eric for putting up with my shenanigans! Thanks everyone so much for a safe place to get my hair done without judgement. would give TEN stars if i could! I wanted a haircut and hair color appointment and am new to the area so I wasn't sure where to go. After doing some google searches, Salon Povera had good reviews and I saw Lochlyn mentioned a lot, so I requested her. WHEN I TELL YOU NO ONE HAS MADE MY HAIR LOOK BETTER. Okay first off, the color. I got my hair dyed four years ago and it was a terrible experience, the colorist gave me golden blonde highlights when I asked for ash brown. I was pretty nervous about getting my hair colored again, but I decided to risk it. Salon Povera had a cool little hair color booklet with dyed hair samples so you could see the actual undertones of the dyes and everything. Long story short, my hair is exactly what I asked for and more. I felt so beautiful in that chair and I feel so beautiful since leaving. Then, the HAIRCUT. Lochlyn is amazingggg. she evened out my layers while keeping my length. at the end of the cut, she went back and made my top layers just barely shorter, and all of the sudden it had bounce and curled beautifully at the ends.PS: the vibe at Salon Povera is great, super queer friendly!!! everyone has great personality and it's such a vibe. Definitely have found my new salon home <3

I just moved to the area and needed a new place to get my hair cut. I am so glad I took a chance here! The atmosphere is kind, welcoming and most importantly a safe space! I had Lochlyn as my hair stylist and she was amazing! She is kind, beautiful and down to earth. She is super easy to talk to and I had a genuinely good time. Usually hair cuts make me pretty anxious because I have sensitive skin and hair fall. Lochlyn listened to all of my concerns and was very gentle. She made some great recommendations for me. One of the best salon experiences I've had, HIGHLY recommend Salon Povera! There's such a good vibe inside, the stylists are super friendly (and they had Golden Girls playing on the TV when I went, you can't go wrong with that!)Came in asking to chop my shoulder-length hair into a chin-length bob and Lochlyn did AN AMAZING job, I am so so happy with my new haircut! As someone with thick wavy/curly hair, I always get a little nervous with a new stylist but she knew exactly how to work with my kind of hair. She was also super sweet and fun to talk to, I can't recommend this salon enough!

I feel absolutely beautiful with my haircut, I got a butterfly cut! 🦋🦋I called the salon last night and left a message kindly requesting a spot on their schedule, they called me early in the morning and placed me on it promptly! As soon as you walk into the salon you are greeted with a warm welcome. I have been going to this salon for several years to get an ashy blonde color for my rather dark Asian hair. Patrick was very attentive and explained the process could take a while so we don’t ruin my hair with too much bleaching. After many months I have the perfect color and cute angled bob to go with it. He gives my hair volume and style and I leave feeling like a brand new person. I’ve also had a cut and color with Eric and he also does an excellent job. The entire team here makes me feel valued and pampered at every visit. They were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. It's evident that they genuinely care about their clients and strive to provide the best experience possible.

I chose Salon Povera for my first ever hair coloring appointment and Jada was an absolute MAGICIAN! She was able to create the perfect color, explained the entire process to me, and even gave me some lovely beach waves when the color was set! I have been going to this wonderful salon for 2 years! The staff is very friendly and all of the hairstylists are experienced and competent. I have had services done from four of the hairstylists and have been pleased every time. Currently Jada is my stylist and I can't say enough good about her and her skills. My girl Tyce is the greatest!! Yes we all say our stylist is the greatest, but my stylist is the GOAT! I am the crazy pixie hair lady that doesn’t ever trust anyone. Skye colored my hair today. I needed to get rid of my grays and wanted to go darker. My grays are now gone and my hair is a pretty shade of brown. I felt like Skye was really attentive to my hair. She also cleaned it up for me. I look forward to seeing how my hair does these next few weeks.

I got a haircut and a balayage with Katie, which went well. Initially I wasn't as happy with how it turned out but Katie and the other team members were very nice, understanding, and accommodating. Katie listened to my requests and immediately addressed them, after which I was very happy with my haircut and my color. Katie and the rest of the team members went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the haircut and the experience in their salon. As a bonus I got great suggestions about things to do for my vacation from Patrick. Overall, would highly recommend this salon.

Patrick is a color magician and will make sure you’re taken care of! I switch colors all the time and love being platinum. He makes it happen! I also like how he’s always talking with his staff and coaching them in their craft. Ie. Ways to accomplish this color for this type of hair, cutting techniques, etc. Whether you’re being seen by him or one of his staff, you’ll be taken care of and receive a quality outcome at a reasonable price. He’s also a great person to get to sit and talk to while you’re getting your hair done!

Tice is amazing!!! After box coloring my hair for many years the color was no longer what I wanted (too dark) and I wanted to go back to my natural color.Tice was great and took on the challenge! It was a long process as she took great care in getting rid of my “chocolate cherry” hair color so my hair would not be damaged. I absolutely love it! I trust her wholeheartedly with whatever recommendations she makes for my hair.Tice also did an awesome job cutting my hair. I tried several salons since moving to NC 6 years ago and was not happy ~ but Tice…. Thank you, Skye, for what might have been the best haircut I’ve ever had in my life! Skye didn’t just blindly give me the haircut I showed her photos of- she asked questions about my hair type and lifestyle, and then tailored my desired haircut to my specific needs and hair type. I was left with a cut that looks amazing with or without styling, and really fits me as a person! I have tried many times over the years to get this exact haircut at many salons, but never left feeling 100% satisfied. Skye is the first person that got it exactly right and totally understood what I was asking for! She also washed/styled my hair with amazing high end products.The salon itself is small but doesn’t feel cramped, and all the stylists seem to have a friendly, talkative, down to earth energy. I got very lucky and they were able to fit me in super last minute on Memorial Day weekend after they had a last-minute cancellation, which I was so grateful for! The prices are on par with other high end salons (my haircut was $60)- 100% worth it for a haircut that was tailored to me, looks effortlessly gorgeous, and from a stylist who has perfected their craft. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I am forever a fan of Tice. I doubt I will ever go to another salon! I recently moved to the area and had my hair done elsewhere (before I learned of Tice’s awesome work!) I didn’t love the color that I had (a bit orange!) and Tice did an amazing job fixing my color. She was INCREDIBLE. It’s just the shade I wanted and had the right highlights and shading. She even stayed late because it took longer than what I originally booked. She is EXCELLENT at coloring and I highly recommend her. She is knowledgeable, professional, patient, and truly the best of the best!

Great staff. Fun environment. Great location. Clean and professional experience with all the Southern Salon Charm you would expect. First haircut since lockdown and Skye strategized, then cut and styled my new look almost intuitively while walking this previous "crew-cutter" through the care and future maintenance of my now longer locks. Highly recommended and her experience shows with the final "soap opera hair" outcome (that's a good thing).

They are just simply amazing!! I do not have enough nice things to say about Tice. She did just an amazing job fixing my hair from a previous bad hair coloring. She was able to completely transform my hair and achieve the exact look I was going for, though it was a drastic transformation. Both Patrick and Tice are fun, warm and made me feel so comfortable. Their communication via phone and email is amazing, and quick. The salon is clean and all staff wear masks, gloves. 100% recommend them.

Skye is a wizard! She knew exactly how to cut and style my hair, taking into account things like natural texture, volume, and hair growth direction.
