UPDATE 3 YEARS LATER:I still love this place immensely! I've since moved away, but I'm willing to take the hour drive just to go here. I've came a few times since this last review. Every time I enter this place I am greeted like family. I laugh and joke around with everyone. We're friends and they make sure every client is treated personally and beautifully! would give TEN stars if i could! I wanted a haircut and hair color appointment and am new to the area so I wasn't sure where to go. After doing some google searches, Salon Povera had good reviews and I saw Lochlyn mentioned a lot, so I requested her. WHEN I TELL YOU NO ONE HAS MADE MY HAIR LOOK BETTER. Okay first off, the color. I got my hair dyed four years ago and it was a terrible experience, the colorist gave me golden blonde highlights when I asked for ash brown. I was pretty nervous about getting my hair colored again, but I decided to risk it. Salon Povera had a cool little hair color booklet with dyed hair samples so you could see the actual undertones of the dyes and everything. Long story short, my hair is exactly what I asked for and more. I felt so beautiful in that chair and I feel so beautiful since leaving. Then, the HAIRCUT. Lochlyn is amazingggg. she evened out my layers while keeping my length. at the end of the cut, she went back and made my top layers just barely shorter, and all of the sudden it had bounce and curled beautifully at the ends.PS: the vibe at Salon Povera is great, super queer friendly!!! everyone has great personality and it's such a vibe. Definitely have found my new salon home <3

I just moved to the area and needed a new place to get my hair cut. I am so glad I took a chance here! The atmosphere is kind, welcoming and most importantly a safe space! I had Lochlyn as my hair stylist and she was amazing! She is kind, beautiful and down to earth. She is super easy to talk to and I had a genuinely good time. One of the best salon experiences I've had, HIGHLY recommend Salon Povera! There's such a good vibe inside, the stylists are super friendly (and they had Golden Girls playing on the TV when I went, you can't go wrong with that!)Came in asking to chop my shoulder-length hair into a chin-length bob and Lochlyn did AN AMAZING job, I am so so happy with my new haircut! As someone with thick wavy/curly hair, I always get a little nervous with a new stylist but she knew exactly how to work with my kind of hair. As soon as you walk into the salon you are greeted with a warm welcome. I have been going to this salon for several years to get an ashy blonde color for my rather dark Asian hair. Patrick was very attentive and explained the process could take a while so we don’t ruin my hair with too much bleaching. After many months I have the perfect color and cute angled bob to go with it. He gives my hair volume and style and I leave feeling like a brand new person. I’ve also had a cut and color with Eric and he also does an excellent job. The entire team here makes me feel valued and pampered at every visit. They were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. I have been going to this wonderful salon for 2 years! The staff is very friendly and all of the hairstylists are experienced and competent. I got a haircut and a balayage with Katie, which went well. Initially I wasn't as happy with how it turned out but Katie and the other team members were very nice, understanding, and accommodating. Katie listened to my requests and immediately addressed them, after which I was very happy with my haircut and my color. Patrick is a color magician and will make sure you’re taken care of! I switch colors all the time and love being platinum. He makes it happen! I also like how he’s always talking with his staff and coaching them in their craft. Ie. Ways to accomplish this color for this type of hair, cutting techniques, etc. Whether you’re being seen by him or one of his staff, you’ll be taken care of and receive a quality outcome at a reasonable price. Tice is amazing!!! After box coloring my hair for many years the color was no longer what I wanted (too dark) and I wanted to go back to my natural color.Tice was great and took on the challenge! It was a long process as she took great care in getting rid of my “chocolate cherry” hair color so my hair would not be damaged. I absolutely love it! Thank you, Skye, for what might have been the best haircut I’ve ever had in my life! Skye didn’t just blindly give me the haircut I showed her photos of- she asked questions about my hair type and lifestyle, and then tailored my desired haircut to my specific needs and hair type. I was left with a cut that looks amazing with or without styling, and really fits me as a person! I have tried many times over the years to get this exact haircut at many salons, but never left feeling 100% satisfied. Skye is the first person that got it exactly right and totally understood what I was asking for! She also washed/styled my hair with amazing high end products.The salon itself is small but doesn’t feel cramped, and all the stylists seem to have a friendly, talkative, down to earth energy. I got very lucky and they were able to fit me in super last minute on Memorial Day weekend after they had a last-minute cancellation, which I was so grateful for! The prices are on par with other high end salons (my haircut was $60)- 100% worth it for a haircut that was tailored to me, looks effortlessly gorgeous, and from a stylist who has perfected their craft. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I am forever a fan of Tice. I doubt I will ever go to another salon! I recently moved to the area and had my hair done elsewhere (before I learned of Tice’s awesome work!) I didn’t love the color that I had (a bit orange!) and Tice did an amazing job fixing my color. She was INCREDIBLE. It’s just the shade I wanted and had the right highlights and shading. She even stayed late because it took longer than what I originally booked. She is EXCELLENT at coloring and I highly recommend her. They are just simply amazing!! I do not have enough nice things to say about Tice. She did just an amazing job fixing my hair from a previous bad hair coloring. She was able to completely transform my hair and achieve the exact look I was going for, though it was a drastic transformation. Both Patrick and Tice are fun, warm and made me feel so comfortable. Their communication via phone and email is amazing, and quick. The salon is clean and all staff wear masks, gloves. 100% recommend them.

Tricia is AMAZING. I went to Salon Povera after getting a horrible haircut somewhere else. Tricia was able to work with it and give me the cutest haircut ever.
